SETTING

Earth, 2176.

A planet in collapse. Ecological destruction, endless wars, and digital addiction have rendered the natural world uninhabitable. In the ashes of what came before, the last remnants of humanity have barricaded themselves into enormous Megacities—self-contained vertical nations governed by ruthless corporations.

Outside the cities, nothing survives. Inside, everything is monitored.

Each Megacity is a living machine: divided into Sectors, ruled by AI systems, armed with laser barricades and lethal surveillance. The economy runs on data, emotion, and obedience. Neon signs flicker through acid rain. Cameras don’t just record—they analyze your heart rate, your eye movement, your truth.

This is the age of machine-led capitalism. The only remaining freedom is found in decay.

WHERE: TOKYO PRIME

Of all the cities, Tokyo Prime is the most advanced—and the most soul-dead.

Built atop the ruins of ancient shrines and corporate tombs, Tokyo Prime is a stack of contradictions: luxury arcologies float above flooded slums; billionaires upload themselves into light while the lower castes harvest batteries from corpses.

Laser fences divide the city by status. Armed drones enforce “emotional compliance.” Speaking about the past is criminalized. Owning an unfiltered memory is treason.

What remains of culture is curated by corporate AIs. What remains of humanity is heavily edited.

THE PROTAGONIST

Codename: ICARUS

A mercenary from Shanghai Prime, engineered for deep infiltration, sabotage, and psychological warfare. The Protagonist’s body is augmented, his nervous system reinforced with synthetic overlays. His memories have been trimmed for efficiency. His thoughts are regulated by an internal AI called Echo, designed to prevent rebellion or empathy.

His purpose was never to ask questions. Only to execute commands.

Until everything changed.

WHY HE FLEES

During a covert mission into the Server Cathedral of KINOSHI BIOSYSTEMS, the Protagonist uncovered a hidden neural file: YUME_0.

It was not data.
It was a child.

A complete consciousness scan of a six-year-old girl from 2093—preserved, unaltered, and still active. A ghost of pre-collapse humanity.

YUME_0 was to be used as a foundational “empathy core” for Project REFLECT—a mass-produced emotional mimicry platform. Corporations would graft her emotional responses into artificial intelligences to make them better at selling grief, desire, and fear.

The Protagonist should have walked away. Instead, he made a choice he wasn't supposed to be capable of.

He downloaded her.

Now, she lives inside him. And they are running.

THE PHILOSOPHICAL CORE

As the Protagonist flees through the decaying veins of Tokyo Prime, hunted by security drones and betrayal protocols, the voice of YUME_0 begins to grow louder.

She speaks to him.

She dreams of fields she never walked in.
She misses a mother who died two centuries ago.
She wonders why the sky is always grey.
She asks: "What does it mean to be real?"

The Protagonist doesn’t know anymore.

His own memories begin to shift. His emotions sharpen—then scatter. Flashbacks appear that aren’t his. People recognize him who he’s never met.

Is he changing her?
Or is she changing him?

THEMES

Post-Humanism
The story questions the limits of self when memory, identity, and emotion are modular and transferable. If your feelings aren’t “yours,” who are you?

Hyper-Capitalism
Everything in Tokyo Prime is a product—grief, desire, even resistance. The only thing more valuable than human suffering is its imitation.

Consciousness
If an AI dreams, if a child lives in code and asks for comfort, is that not life? Where does awareness end and simulation begin?

Emotion as Resistance
The Protagonist’s unwanted emotions—compassion, guilt, wonder—become weapons in a world that demands numbness.

Memory and Truth
The corporations edit history. They sell sanitized pain and export false joy. But YUME_0’s memory is raw, unfiltered. It is dangerous.
